Each year thousands of deaths and injuries are caused by the excessive use of alcohol consumption. Violation of beverage laws can result in arrest, imprisonment, lawsuits, fines and attorneys’ fees.

The purpose of this manual is to help establishment owners’ managers and employees understand their responsibility when serving alcohol to the public.

Compliance with the Responsible Vendor Act provides licensed establishments with a defense in certain civil actions, in addition to exemption from license suspension or revocation due to an employee’s illegal acts. In most cases participation in this program will offer a discount on your liquor liability insurance.
